The Trouble With the Truth Movement

Ever wonder why the first “truthers” – like Fritz Springmeier and Bill Cooper – ended up in prison or dead, but today, David Icke, Freeman Fry and every third person on Facebook is urging people to “wake up” about the same things and we’re pretty much left alone?

There are sites talking about end times prophecy and Christian persecution that seem to be unaware of glaring things like chemtrails, CERN, mind control and the NWO. On other sites, we hear about everything from military take-over, economic collapse and depopulation to comets hurdling our way, but with no hope given about how to stop it or protect ourselves (Make your voice heard! Write your congressman!). Then there are sites devoted to all the above that point to ‘Enlightenment’ and ‘Christ Consciousness’ as the ultimate answer. After all the church is asleep, right? Christians won’t even look at the stuff that’s going on.

Meanwhile, distraction is running rampant through the church: On one side, christians are getting swept up with feel-good renewal weekends, hyper-grace and ecumenism (the Catholic church isn’t so bad after all… they’re real sorry for hanging and burning all those people during the reformation) and on the other, they’re getting puffed up with pride over their Hebraic insights, teaching us to get back to our “Hebrew Roots”, follow the law and celebrate the feasts. What happened to the gospel of Jesus Christ? What happened to:

“For God so loved the world that He gave His only begotten son. That whosoever believeth in Him, should not perish, but have eternal life.” John 3:16

“I am the way, the truth, and the life. No man cometh to the Father but by me” John 14:6

When did the gospel become not enough for an “experience and specialness-obsessed” church?

So who do we listen to? Who has it right? — Well, of course… ultimately, Jesus does. But it’s become challenging to sort out who are on the side of truth and who are the disinformationists. Are the Zionists behind everything? Do we dare to question the legitimacy of the state of Israel without being rejected by all our friends at church as being antisemitic?  Does being sympathetic toward the Jewish people mean that we have to support the Israeli government? Or could it be that there are other countries besides the United States whose governments do not represent their people ?

Many of these questions are covered in this video. Again, it’s a little older, but still very good.
