Finding the Secret Place of God

by Gregg Fetter

(This is a fictional account using modern end time events as a backdrop for teaching the Secret Place of God.)

I live in a remote location away from a major city. For years I’ve prepared my family for a world event I knew would change our lives.  Well— its finally happened.  It’s all over the news.  As of yesterday an asteroid a mile wide hit the Atlantic Ocean creating a tsunami that is pounding the east coast.

Our government left Washington D.C. and relocated to its underground command center at Denver’s International Airport, as well as to other southwest bases established during Operation Jade Helm 15.  Martial law is in effect across the country (The National Defense Authorization Act or the NDAA).

My main concern is for my son who lives in Phoenix.  The tsunami disrupted the food distribution network and grocery stores have been completely ransacked.  As a result people are being taken to FEMA camps for food and medical needs. I don’t think they will ever return home (see video below: Guillotines, NWO, FEMA Camps; Tribulation Saints).

I have been trying to decide what I should do to help my son.  I know whatever I do it’s going to be dangerous. Therefore, I have entered the “secret place” to hear God’s voice.  King David mentions a secret place in Psalm 91.

He that dwelleth in the SECRET PLACE of the most High shall abide under the shadow of the Almighty. I will say of the Lord, He is my refuge and my fortress: my God; in him will I trust.Psalm 91:1-2

But where is the secret place and what is it’s purpose?

Where is God’s Secret Place?

Psalm 27 tells us that God’s secret place is in His temple.  It is in His pavilion or the tabernacle of His presence.

One thing have I desired of the Lord, that will I seek after; that I may dwell in the house of the Lord all the days of my life, to behold the beauty of the Lord, and to enquire in his TEMPLE.  For in the time of trouble he shall hide me in his PAVILION: in the SECRET OF HIS TABERNACLE shall he hide me; he shall set me up upon a rock.Psalm 27:4-5

1 Corinthians tells us that we are the temple of God (those born of Him).

Know ye not that YE ARE THE TEMPLE OF GOD, and that the Spirit of God dwelleth in you?1 Corinthians 3:16

So we enter into the secret place of God when we enter into the inner chamber of our heart (mind, will and emotions).

What is the Purpose of the Secret Place?

Again, we see in Psalm 27:4 that the purpose of the secret place is to INQUIRE of Him.  That is, we go into God’s secret place to receive instruction from God.

In my case, I needed to ask the Lord if He wanted me to go to Phoenix and rescue my son.

An added benefit of the secret place is that those who go there HABITUALLY will receive His PHYSICAL PROTECTION.

In Psalm 91 we read:

BECAUSE THOU HAST MADE THE LORD, which is my refuge, even the most High, THY HABITATION;  THERE SHALL NO EVIL BEFALL THEE, neither shall any plague come nigh thy dwelling.  For he shall give his angels charge over thee, to keep thee in all thy ways.  They shall bear thee up in their hands, lest thou dash thy foot against a stone.  Thou shalt tread upon the lion and adder: the young lion and the dragon shalt thou trample under feet.  Because he hath set his love upon me, therefore will I deliver him: I will set him on high, because he hath known my name.  He shall call upon me, and I will answer him: I will be with him in trouble; I will deliver him, and honour him.Psalm 91:9-15

This promise is specifically made to those living in the time of the Great Tribulation.  How do we know this?

The Book of Psalms is a collection of poems or songs written over a period of eleven hundred years.  Many of the poems were songs of trial, trouble, tribulation, thanksgiving and triumph.

Doctrinally these trials refer to JACOB’S TROUBLE— a time of tribulation unparalleled in history (Jeremiah 30:7).  We know this because the Psalms use the word “Selah” 71 times.

Selah, also known as Selah Petra, refers to a place God would prepare for end-time Israel during the Great Tribulation (Revelation 12:14).  It is a place of refuge.  While the literal physical Petra could be used by the fleeing Messianic Israeli Jews in the end times, I believe that Selah Petra also refers to the PHYSICAL PROTECTION God provides for Spiritual Israel (born again Christians) during the Great Tribulation (Revelation 7:1-8).  See my article, God’s End Time Army: Where Do You Fit In?

Going to Phoenix

As I sought the Lord in His inner chambers (Psalm 27:4) He told me to go to Phoenix, but to expect my faith to be challenged.  Determined to see with my HEART rather than my physical eyes I got into my car and drove to Phoenix.

As I approached Phoenix, I could see check points set up by the National Guard for those exiting Phoenix. I had learned that while you could freely enter Phoenix, you could not leave it unless you could prove that you worked outside the Phoenix metropolitan area.  I knew that I did not meet this qualification.  There was a chance that I could get struck in Phoenix (Agenda 21).

As I worked my way through the city to my son’s house, I was amazed by the lack of activity.  Hardly anyone was on the road.  It was like the city had come to a complete stop.  I was hopeful my son would be at home.

When I arrived, I parked my car and knocked on the door of my son’s apartment.  Much to my surprise and relief, my son opened the door!  We hugged and excitedly exchanged reassurances.  Then we sat down and my son updated me on the situation.

Curfew had been established in the city.  No one could leave their dwelling after 10 p.m..  Military personnel were moving through the city by zip code.  For security reasons the government was issuing ID cards embedded with computer chip technology.  The chips held personal banking and medical information that linked you directly to a central computer.  No one could opt out of this process.  This procedure was part of a law passed on Sunday March 21, 2010.  It was originally called the Senate Healthcare bill HR3200— it had became known as Obamacare.

According to the law, chips were supposed to be issued by March 23, 2013, but the full implementation of Obamacare had been delayed and it wasn’t happening until now.  For convenience, people could choose between an ID card or a hand implanted RFID chip (Radio-Frequency Identification)— but later everyone would have to get a RFID chip or face death by guillotine.

My son told me that his neighborhood was being canvassed the next day.  We had to hurry.

Since movement in the city was rare, driving around made you feel obvious— like people were wondering what you were doing.  We decided we’d better try to make a run for it after dark.

I knew of an exit point out of Phoenix that led directly into a wilderness area.  I had researched it years before anticipating that this would happen.  We’d have to abandon my truck and go it alone on foot.  My son had prepared a BOB (bug-out-bag).  We’d have to walk 90 miles, but I knew we could make it if we followed the primitive trail through the mountains.  We tried to be in position before the 10 p.m. curfew.  Our plan was to slide by the neighborhood watchmen and disappear into the wilderness.

As we walked through the neighborhood that led to the wilderness, I was apprehensive.  Getting caught now, could lead to our execution.  I reentered my SECRET PLACE.

“Lord”, I prayed. “Though I walk through the valley of the shadow of death, I will fear no evil: for thou art with me; thy rod and thy staff they comfort me.  Thou preparest a table before me in the presence of mine enemies: thou anointest my head with oil; my cup runneth over.  Surely goodness and mercy shall follow me all the days of my life: and I will dwell in the house of the Lord for ever.”Psalm 23:4-6

With that prayer God assured me that He would get us through.  With nothing more than the distant bark of a dog, my son and I walked into the wilderness.  Two days later we arrived at our place of refuge, free from the bondage of men.

God would continue to protect my whole family over the next 3 1/2 years.  Our only salvation during those years was to abide under the shadow of the Almighty (Psalm 91:2).  In doing so He kept us safe from the snares of the fowler (New World Order) and he saved us from the pestilence that ravished the land (Psalm 91:3).

You can also live in God’s Secret Place.  Here’s how to do it.

How To Find the Secret Place of God

We enter God’s secret place when we:

1.  Live in the Word of God— the Bible.

Notice that Psalm 91:1 says, “he that dwelleth in the secret place of God, shall ABIDE under the shadow of the Almighty.”

Abide means to LIVE THERE.  If you want to dwell in the secret place you must live in the word of God.

Psalm 1 tells us how often.

Blessed is the man that walketh not in the counsel of the ungodly, nor standeth in the way of sinners, nor sitteth in the seat of the scornful.  But his delight is in the law of the Lord; and in his law doth he MEDITATE DAY AND NIGHT.Psalm 1:1-2

Jesus, who is the Word of God (John 1:1) tells us to abide in Him.

Abide in me, and I in you. As the branch cannot bear fruit of itself, except it abide in the vine; no more can ye, except ye abide in me.   If ye abide in me, and MY WORDS ABIDE IN YOU, ye shall ask what ye will, and it shall be done unto you.
John 15:4,7

Through these verses we see that when we LIVE in the word of God, we are dwelling in the secret place of God.  God’s word is a lamp unto our path and a light unto our feet (Psalm 119:105).  God will protect us.

We enter the secret place of God when we:

2.  Practice the Presence of God

What is practicing the presence of God?

It’s walking in the Spirit (Galatians 5:25).  It’s consciously choosing to rely on the Holy Spirit in thought, word, and deed (Romans 6:11-14).  It’s moment by moment holiness. Moment to moment holiness is achieved when we bring every thought captive to the obedience of Christ. (2 Corinthians 10:5).

It’s also understanding that because we are born of God, we have the “mind of Christ” (1 Corinthians 2:16).  Since we have the mind of Christ we can hear the thoughts of God.

But how do you actually practice the presence of God?

Begin by knowing where to find God.

We don’t find God by going to where He is, we find God when we understand that He is already where we are(Matthew 28:20).

This becomes a reality when we let God see through our eyes.

For example, as you go about your daily business, recognize that as you look through your eyes, God is looking through them with you.  He sees what you see, but with His own unique perspective.

Therefore mentally inquire of Him what He sees.  You may see someone as annoying, but when you practice the presence of God, God allows you to understand that this person is merely sad and lonely.  God gives you perspective (1 Corinthians 2:16).  His presence allows you to effectively respond to people, situations and things as He would.

Practicing the presence of God is taking Christ with you wherever you go.  It’s an inner conversation that inquires of God about ANY situation in your life.  In this way we make God our habitation (Psalm 91:9).

When we let God see through our eyes, He teaches us many things.  He helps us to apply doctrine.  He corrects us as needed.  He instructs us in how to be righteous (2 Timothy 3:16).  He gives us the FRUIT of His Spirit (Galatians 5:22-23).

We enter God’s secret place when we:

3.  Love God with All Your Heart, Soul and Mind (Matthew 22:37)

We love God as our husband and our King.

As Our Husband

As Christ’s bride we submit to Him.  This relationship is explained in Ephesians 5:21-33.

We work to make our marriage vibrant and exciting.  We continue in our first love (Revelation 2:4).  We follow Him wherever He goes (Revelation 14:4).

As Our King

We acknowledge that He is also our King.  In fact, He is the King of Kings and the Lord of Lords (Revelation 17:14).  His is the Highest court in the land.  We obey only Him.

This will be particularly challenging in the end times.  The Antichrist will be changing God’s laws, wanting you to follow him (Daniel 7:25).

But if you TRUST God and do what He says, you will remain in His secret place, under His WINGS (Psalm 91:4)— you will be protected.

Conclusion

I believe we have serious challenges ahead.  It is my personal belief that we will see world changing events in 2015.  Are you prepared?  Have you taken physical precautions?  Do you know how to abide in the Secret Place of God?  May God give you His wisdom in the days ahead.
