Grief

Grief over the loss of a loved one is often given as the reason that people lose their faith or do not believe in God. Their anger at the God who “took away” their loved one makes it impossible to believe, because they simply cannot conceive of such a cruel God. They do not realize that their statement betrays a belief or hope, not only that there is a God, but that He should be good.

Satan’s lie is that God is evil and cruel, when the exact opposite thing is true. Everything coming from the spirit of darkness is a perversion and a lie. God is most certainly not cruel. In truth it is evil that brought death and cruelty into the beautiful world that God created and God mourns the loss of every precious soul. Scripture tells us that God keeps our tears in a bottle.

“…you put my tears into your bottle: are they not in your book? “ Ps  56:8

The truth is that God’s love and compassion for us is so great that he sent his only son into the world to suffer and die in order to bring us back to himself, the only source of true life. Through Christ’s pain, torture and death he conquered death, pain and sorrow forever, victoriously establishing a means to restore our intimate relationship with our Father.

Sadly, it is through our pain and the threat of loss, when out of great need for his divine intervention we are finally brought to our knees in total surrender, desperately crying out for an audience with our merciful God, as in utter helplessness we cry “Abba, Father! I need you!”

Precious believer, perservere, keep crying out, knowing that God takes no pleasure in your scourging or your pain, but in your sorrow your precious God weeps with you and he will answer. Don’t allow the enemy to lie to you, telling you that your God has abandoned you or not heard you. Remember instead his pain, when out of his great love for you, his perfect, beautiful son was despised, rejected, beaten and murdered so that you could believe in him, be made whole and live forever.

He loves you.
