The Narrow Gate

Yvonne Nachtigal | HHA

“Enter through the narrow gate. For wide is the gate and broad is the road that leads to destruction, and many enter through it. But small is the gate and narrow the road that leads to life, and only a few find it.

Watch out for false prophets. They come to you in sheep’s clothing, but inwardly they are ferocious wolves. By their fruit you will recognize them. Do people pick grapes from thornbushes, or figs from thistles? Likewise, every good tree bears good fruit, but a bad tree bears bad fruit. A good tree cannot bear bad fruit, and a bad tree cannot bear good fruit. Every tree that does not bear good fruit is cut down and thrown into the fire. Thus, by their fruit you will recognize them.”

Matthew 7:13-20

Reflecting on these words this morning, the many new teachings appearing in the church came to my mind. The Harbinger, The Shemitah, Blood Moons, The Hebrew Roots Movement, Ecumenism... I thought of “Mega churches” and popular Christian music, main stream Christianity, with its’ refusal to talk about what the devil is doing in the world through technology, its’ denial of the supernatural, and its’ unconditional support of Israel as a state (I recognize that will cause alarm with many reading this. If that statement bothers you, please see my note at the bottom of this article.) When you boil it all down, it’s this simple: If it’s on the New York Times Best Seller list. if it is “Mega”, if it is making lots and lots of money, if it is popular and well accepted, then it is being supported by the prince of this world. Unfortunately, that sweeps up many currently popular “truthers” or “watchmen on the wall” as well. I’m not saying that this is absolutely the case in every single instance, but I am saying that if what you are listening to, practicing or following falls into one of these categories that you’d better put on your fruit inspector’s hat.

Christians would do well to step back and realize that those who are running things have had thousands of years to study human nature. They know that we are so easily tempted by pride and that we long for the spirituality that was lost at the fall. They know that we easily fall into fear. These are the weaknesses our enemy plays on and is using to orchestrate his desired dominion over and eventual destruction of the human race.

In light of these things I think we should be asking pointed questions of any new teaching that comes on the scene – For example:

  • How many have come to a saving knowledge of Jesus Christ through reading “The Harbinger” or “The Shemitah”?
  • How many people in the Hebrew Roots Movement are walking in love and forgiveness and sharing the good news that, through Jesus Christ, we can be set free from the law of sin and death?
  • How many demons have been cast out in the name of ‘Yahshua’?
  • How many have experienced the supernatural love of God through the Blood Moons teaching?
  • How many LASTING life-changes for God have you seen come from Ecumenical Renewal weekends?
  • Does “Unity” mean compromise?
  • Why do Cursillo weekends, which purport ‘Unity’, tend to produce elitism and cliques among attendees?
  • How many Mega-Churches are preaching the essential messages of repentance, forgiveness and dying to the things of this world?

We are living in a time when the shocking and surreal have become the ‘new normal’. While it’s important to understand what’s going on and not to be naive, the tentacles of evil are literally endless. It’s easy to get so caught up in sorting it out that we take our eyes off our Savior and our Love-walk in Him.

Christian “Truthers”, or “Watchmen” online frequently only quote the bolded parts of these verses.

Hosea 4:6 – “My people are destroyed for lack of knowledge: because thou hast rejected knowledge, I will also reject thee, that thou shalt be no priest to me: seeing thou hast forgotten the law of thy God, I will also forget thy children.”

2 Cor 2:11-12 “To whom ye forgive anything, I forgive also: for if I forgave anything, to whom I forgave it, for your sakes forgave I it in the person of Christ; Lest Satan should get an advantage of us: for we are not ignorant of his devices.”

The verses are true enough that way. As the ones who have been trusted with the very Word of God, we ought to be the most informed people on the planet, but when we pull back to look at these verses in context, we see that they are talking about the knowledge of God’s Word and Forgiveness.

The articles that receive the most traffic on this site are consistently about celebrities, the Illuminati, technologies, and mind control, while the ones exhorting God’s people in the truth get limited attention. My hope is that people are taking the time to get God’s Word elsewhere because the enemy would like very much to keep us mesmerized with sensationalism.

It’s so easy to fall into fear at the mind-bending realities of the fallen angels’ work on earth. But when we do, at best, we become futile and fruitless, accomplishing nothing for the Kingdom of God, and at worst, we’ll become distracted and forget to test the spirits and carefully examine new teachings, making us vulnerable to believing doctrines of demons.

“Now the Spirit speaketh expressly, that in the latter times some shall depart from the faith, giving heed to seducing spirits, and doctrines of devils;” I Tim 4:1

I don’t hold any credentials as a Bible teacher. I’m just a woman who has sinned much, been forgiven of much, and love my Lord and Savior Jesus Christ with all my heart. For reasons only He knows, He gave me a glimpse of eternity four years ago, after which the world has never looked the same to me. The message I have from that experience is what it was from the first: “Jesus! Seek Him with all your heart! Tell people about the hope you’ve found in Him!” This world is quickly passing away, but we who are in Christ (are you?) have a hope that is eternal. Have you turned to Him? He loves you like no one else can. Have you seen the wretchedness of your sin and fallen, broken before the lamb of God? Have you taken up your cross, sacrificing all the vain things of this world to follow Him only? I pray that you have.

God bless you as you follow the narrow path.

“God shows his love for us in that while we were still sinners, Christ died for us.” Romans 5:8

“And they said, Believe on the Lord Jesus Christ, and thou shalt be saved, and thy house.” Acts 16:31

“Repent, and be baptized every one of you in the name of Jesus Christ for the remission of sins, and ye shall receive the gift of the Holy Ghost.” Acts 2:38

“How then shall they call on him in whom they have not believed? and how shall they believe in him of whom they have not heard? ..” Romans 10:14

*I do NOT endorse any “anti-Semetic” sentiments. What I question is the validity of the political state of Israel and Zionism, which Orthodox Jews reject.
